With increasing regularity new brands are appearing in 400 scale in China and it can be a challenge to work out who they are and where their models come from. Just recently another new brand has appeared, calling itself YY Wings and using what looks like a new Boeing 747-8I mould. With the help of some friends I've been able to do a bit of digging on them. Thanks to my friends Nguyễn Quân & Đặng Tùng for help with this article. YY Wings appears to be based around the Taobao store Yueyue Model 2020, which can be found on Taobao here. They don't seem different to tens of other stores on the platform but they are selling a small selection of new 747-8I models. The models can be found elsewhere on taobao as well but at a higher price and always using the same set of photos. So far it looks like there have been four releases - two Air China and two Lufthansa. Each model comes with a plastic stand. The Air China versions include B-2487 and B-2479 - the latter being the Chinese State transport. The Lufthansa's feature D-ABYA in the new colours and D-ABYT in the retro scheme. The Yueyue Model 2020 store also sells a significant amount of Hogan models and it is my understanding that this new mould has been produced by Hogan and made at their factory. The quality of the mould appears much superior to previous Hogan output, which is impressive considering the purchase price at the Yueyue Model 2020 is only in the region of RMB 207 - about USD $29. They have cropped up on eBay as well but for $45. I have been told this mould was made in the Hogan factory, who are operating as an OEM for others. Hogan have been in 400 scale a long time but haven't historically made a lot of 400 scale and what they have made has been mainly for the Japanese market and on subpar moulds. That certainly doesn't look like the case with this 747-8I, which appears excellent. I am in the process of acquiring one of the Air China versions and hope to be able to review the mould at the site here soon. Presumably this mould is available for use by anyone who wants to pay for it from the Hogan factory.

NG BOAC have a different join of the wing to the fuselage! I cannot recall the JCW join right now! Anyone who giot the BOAC fantasy 100 LIMITED units version B747-8i,did yours come with a collectors card number??? What out of 100>?? Mine did not,i am now wandering with that limited number thing was BS!!! I like the model but it does annoy me that maybe they do not come or mine did not come with a collector number out of the SUPPOSED 100?? I think NG are slipping in standards by the way!! Cheaper cradles, foam cradle gone ,replaced by cheaper plastic slightly heavier/thicker than other brands cradles still and i have a sneaky feeling they are going to end up like Gemini Jets!

It wasn't 100 units the 100 was that it was wearing the 100th anniversary logo that BA added to its retro colour 747-400s. I didn't get that release myself.

Looked on AVM website,.they have that model back in and it shows clearly a card showing no.83 out of 100! So this is rather odd and many retailers listed it as limited run of 100?? Anyone else knows!
