There has been a proliferation of brand names in recent years often associated with Panda Models, who produce a decent number of models for others - both individuals with their own brands and retailer exclusives. A new name that has appeared recently is C Models.
Other Similar Brands
This isn't the first brand to appear complete with its own logo and using Panda Models moulds. There has previously been WingLux Models and Miniature Models. As I understand it both of those brands were not Panda themselves but separate groups. Both WingLux and Miniature Models have previously featured at the Model Blog:
I have also discussed Miniature Models more recently in the roundup of Panda Exclusive Models made during 2022.
2023 First Releases
I have no background on C Models but they appear to be similar in nature to WingLux and Miniature. I have heard the suggestion the C stands for Canada but I think China is equally likely. The initial set of releases was quite random, like Miniature Models, and utilised the Airbus A319/A320 and Boeing 737-300 moulds for non-Chinese airliners. Note that in terms of part numbers as far as I know there is no C0001 or C0008/9 unless I've missed them. The 737s were announced sometime after the Airbuses.
PLAAF 737s
Along with the Lufthansa and United 737s also announced was a pair of PLAAF 737-300s both fitted with the fuselage top and belly housings.
2023 December Announcements
Looking around taobao it appears there is a third set of C Models releases that has just been announced. Unlike the earlier sets none of these have been seen, as of yet, at Western retailers and all represent Chinese airliners. Apparently already out and available for sale are rather oddly the exact same trio of PLAAF / China United A319s recently released by NG Models:
There are also a pair of 737-300s very similar to previous Aeroclassics releases that of course use the same base Panda Models 737-300 mould albeit this version has been updated with new tyres, with better wheelhubs, and aerials. The Panda style official photos are out but it seems the models haven't reached retailers yet.
The other four models are more interesting since 3 of the 4 have never been made before in 400 scale. At present only artwork is available for them.
