The 1:400 die-cast model airliner scene really got started around 1999 and since then there has been a wide range of aircraft produced on a wide range of different moulds by competing companies. The main players have been Aeroclassics, Dragon Wings, Gemini Jets and Phoenix, though at various time other manufacturers have entered and left the market - including JC Wings, Jet-X, Aviation 400 (and various other Witty brands like Witty Wings, Apollo, Blue Box etc), Herpa, SMA and others.

As of 2020 Aeroclassics, Aviation400, Gemini, JC Wings, NG Models, Panda Models and Phoenix are the 7 big players. Aeroclassics as its name suggests aims towards classics but also has started making modern Airbuses. Gemini used to do a bit of retro material but is nowadays firmly focused on modern US and European aircraft, whilst Phoenix, Panda and JC Wings primarily cater towards modern Asian airlines. NG Models are a new player working closely with collectors.
This area of the site is to explore the different moulds used for aircraft types over the entire history of the 1:400 scale and enable comparisons between them to help the collector choose which models to buy.
