Back in September I posted about some of the new second-hand models joining my collection. Of course I buy lots of new releases too and in this post I'll take a look at some of the new additions from this year, which gives a good idea what I've been buying.

Classic Airline Magazines Pt3: Airline Quarterly

Recently I had the opportunity to acquire a boatload of magazines from a collector here in Auckland and along with titles I knew well such as Airliners and Airways there was another American magazine I was not familiar with - Airline Quarterly. In hindsight this isn't such a surprise as I was an infant when it was published and it lasted for only a few years. Nonetheless reading through it appears very much to be a forerunner of its better known descendants.

How Far 1:400 Has Come: 1999-2019

This year has marked the twentieth anniversary of 1:400 scale and several manufacturers (notably Gemini Jets and Aeroclassics) have been celebrating their 20th year in business. Meanwhile relative newcomer NG Models has been slowly getting its Tristar production into gear, which gives an opportunity to compare some models from the dawn of the scale with some from recent month's.

Few aircraft could make the ground shake quite like a BAC One-Eleven and being a Gatwick based kid I heard a lot of them. Dan Air, BIA, BCal and BA all flew One-Eleven 500s from LGW and the type kept going into the 90s with European. It is yet another of the overlooked types in 1:400 despite there existing a superb casting. Here's a snapshot of what could be made.

New Moulds from NG Models & Panda

There are currently more players in the 1:400 space than ever before and although some of the older manufacturers appear under some stress (mainly Phoenix) several of the others are still expanding. To that end two of the newcomers, NG and Panda, have both announced that they will be producing new moulds soon.
