The Best Boeing Moulds in 400 Scale Pt 2: B747-787 (October 2021)
See the Best Moulds page for a breakdown of what this page is trying to achieve. In brief below is my view on the best 400 scale moulds for Boeing types based on buying a lot of 400 scale models and looking at them in detail across many years. You may not agree but if you don't you should at least mount a sensible argument about why you don't!
NOTE: Just because a mould isn't the best it doesn't mean it isn't good and that you shouldn't buy it. I buy a wide range of good moulds for many of these types myself. In the end your collecting is up to you. Use the resources linked to below to get a better understanding of what is available.
B747
Everyone should know my view on Phoenix 747s and if they have a favourable view themselves I would call their judgement into question. Sadly aside from Phoenix there has been little love for the Jumbo in recent years, although that has begun to change with the new NG Models SP and JC Wings series 400. Both are great. The old Big Bird / Aeroclassics 747s are great although they are showing their age a little and the seamless Aviation400 / Witty versions of them are better anyway. The newer 747-8 has two good moulds, however in the freighter space the JC Wings version has an odd rear hump to fuselage transition.

B757-767
The 757 is where it all started for NG Models but that doesn't stop it being one of the best moulds in 400 scale period. Even though the older Gemini version has been updated by JC Wings it is still inferior. The 757-300 hasn't got much attention so the older Gemini mould still reigns there. When it comes to 767-200s the new Aeroclassics mould is decent but despite the seam the old JC Wings version is still better in terms of aerials and landing gear. The 767-300 has not got much new attention in the past decade but most of the existing moulds are good. Likewise the 767-400 has only moulds from Herpa and Dragon to its name.
