I keep a close eye on Taobao for China exclusives, of which there are a lot nowadays. Most of these use either Panda Models or JC Wings moulds and sometimes are branded independently. A few months back I covered Undefined Collectibles and Blue Wings but now there is another new brand and this one has a half familiar name - GeminiStar! I'm sure, given the similarity in name, that the appearance of this brand will please my good friends at Gemini Jets, but it isn't as weird as you might first think seeing as there is already a brand using Panda models releasing as BinaryStar There have been quite a few new brands in China in the past year or two and several have featured at the site here as I try to keep abreast of what is going on in 400 scale. Examples include: There are others about too such as Creating Dreams Wings but thsi new GeminiStar group just appeared in the past month. Their first releases include 10 Air China Peony scheme A320s and 737-700/800s. Interestingly, Blue Wings themselves had recently released B-5211 wearing the Pink peony scheme on a 737-700 and a similar model using the same mould is included in this ten-set. Air China Peony scheme A320s and 737s have been made before but a long time ago by Phoenix. All of them date from 2009/2010 so are on old moulds without rolling gear or aerials. As discussed in my Air China Liveries section most of the Peony liveried aircraft are no longer in service wearing these colours, while B-5211 has changed from Orange to Pink. The ten released here cover all the livery variants except for B-2642, which for a time had a more colourful yellow, blue and red Peony on the front of the aircraft and B-5211 in the original Orange version. Both those models were made by Phoenix and I own them already. Five of this new batch have recently arrived at the hangar but have yet to be unboxed. I had already acquired the Blue Wings version of B-5211 so don't need that, but the rest are definitely winking at me! I wonder whether we will see more from GeminiStar or whether this will be all that is made under this brand. Either way, the name made me smile and the models look like excellent additions to your China 'Classics' fleet!
