It was a sad day when earlier in the year HYJLwings announced they were stopping production, however at the time of the announcement they also said that they had sold their assets to a new company to be called AeroPolaris. This company has been making some quite grand claims, so let's take a look at what they are saying now they have announced their first models. The links between Aero Polaris and HYJLwings seem quite tenuous. Although they are using the old HYJL Instagram account, so far the approach from them is not similar and I know the old owner of HYJL is not involved. HYJLwings owned their own A321 mould, but so far Aero Polaris appears to be creating its own new moulds, with the A350 and 737-800 announced. Whether they still have access to the original A321 is unclear. So far Aero Polaris have made two separate sets of announcements. A350 AnnouncementBack in August Aero Polaris posted on WeChat a long marketing spiel about their new A350. It is perhaps just the translation to English from Chinese, but the whole piece reads rather grandiosly and slightly entertainingly. Here's a sample of what they said: "We are thrilled to announce the official release of AeroPolaris' brand-new 1:400 scale Airbus A350 model! This model is not only a testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence in aviation model craftsmanship but also a heartfelt gift from AeroPolaris to all aviation enthusiasts. Challenges in Developing the 1:400 Scale Airbus A350 Model MoldIn the process of developing the 1:400 scale Airbus A350 model, we encountered some unique challenges. These challenges not only tested our technical abilities but also required us to achieve perfection in every detail. Accurate Reproduction of the Aircraft’s Lines: The design of the Airbus A350 features complex curves and aerodynamic characteristics. Reproducing these details at a 1:400 scale proved particularly difficult. We had to use high-precision engraving techniques and advanced mold-making processes to ensure that every line was accurately represented. Detailing at a Miniature Scale: At a 1:400 scale, many details are extremely small, but they are crucial to the overall effect of the model. For example, the small components on the aircraft, landing gear, wingtips, and engines must be replicated using precise molds and high-quality materials. This required AeroPolaris’ mold craftsmen to possess exceptional manual skills and patience." High-Quality Materials for Long-Lasting Collectibility AeroPolaris models will be crafted from high-quality materials, ensuring durability and lasting value as collectibles. Whether displayed in a showcase or treasured as a valuable collection or gift, AeroPolaris models offer exceptional value that you won’t want to miss. Limited Edition, Rare Opportunity To highlight the unique value of each model, we will release them in limited quantities. Each model will come with a unique numbered certificate of authenticity, emphasizing its rarity and special collectible value under the AeroPolaris brand. AeroPolaris is committed to providing the highest quality model products to aviation enthusiasts around the world. Upholding the spirit of craftsmanship, we continuously innovate to bring you more exciting surprises. They make it sound like they are doing something never before undertaken in the history of humanity - rather than making yet another 400 scale A350! In many ways the creation of yet another A350 seems like a waste of time. There are already plenty of A350s available ranging from ordinary (Phoenix) to excellent (NG and Panda), while Panda has absolutely no problem letting other brands use it as an OEM. When this A350 post was made the only image of anything like a real model was the parts of the blank sample above. The other image presented is clearly a fake AI generated image. That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, but in all other respects they seem genuine. Since this announcement nothing further has been heard of this A350 and although they said the product is expected to be released in October, clearly that isn't going to happen. I didn't post about this at the time due to the uncertainty around it and the boring nature of the announcement. However, in the past few days the first Aero Polaris models have been announced. 737-800sAll had been quiet from Aero Polaris until October 12th when they announced they would be announcing their first 6 models in another funny post (it is probably just the translation to English but these are great in terms of the hype): "AeroPolaris will present six 1:400 scale AeroPolaris excellent products, which will be presented at 20:00 on October 19, 2024. The Polaris model will be presented at a brilliant moment." I love the 'brilliant moment' part. I think everyone expected the announcement to be of A350s, but yesterday when they announced it turned out it would be 737-800s on another all new mould (two if you count blended winglets and scimitars as separate moulds). The announced models are somewhat surprisingly not all Chinese: As they said, once again with lots of feeling: "The X 2024 Series from AeroPolaris unveils six brilliant 1:400 scale AeroPolaris models, marking the official start of the brand’s shining moment!" Disappointingly, once again the only images provided of the models are fake and clearly using AI rendered images. I'm not sure why they have gone down this route as the AI generated images only undermine their credibility in my opinion. I wouldn't trust the images at all as a true representation of the final products. What the AI images do illustrate at least is the intended packaging and certificate. Of which they say: "Each AeroPolaris product not only strives for perfection in design and craftsmanship but also showcases remarkable elegance in its packaging and additional features. Every AeroPolaris model comes with:Exclusive Limited Edition Certificate 1: Featuring aurora-inspired colors paired with the product’s theme color, each certificate is uniquely numbered, highlighting the distinctiveness and collectible value of every AeroPolaris model. Magic Flip Box 2:Inspired by aurora colors as the main tone, the elegant Velcro packaging is paired with the product’s theme color. It not only protects your model but also enhances the unboxing experience, showcasing premium quality. Custom Display Stand 3:AeroPolaris, in collaboration with AIRLINE Manufacture, has created a custom display stand exclusively for AeroPolaris models. This stand perfectly showcases every detail of aviation excellence, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the experience." The 'stand' does illustrate a connection with the old HYJLwings as they also used this sort of cardbase with their earliest A321 releases. LegitimacyAlthough the use of AI rendered images seems suspect, in all other ways Aero Polaris does seem like a genuine brand. AIRLINE Manufacture is a well known Chinese producer of GSE and airport diorama parts so their partnership with them seems legit. The new models have also begun to appear on well known Taobao stores like FelixModels and they have also found a seller in the West with Aviation Retail Direct of the UK: I have also made contact with Aero Polaris myself and hope to get some real images of the new moulds. I'll keep you informed if I make any progress. Arguably the last thing 400 scale needs is more A350s and 737-800s, but they believe that there is still an opening for these types and at least they have managed to jump quickly to an international audience for the models and international selling. It'll be interesting whether the finished models can live up to the 'brilliance' and 'shining moments' that they suggest they will.

Sadly this appears to be a deja-vu company that will be competing with 'the big boys' producing more of the same in an already saturated market. They need to make moulds of aircraft types not made by any competitor to stand a chance of surviving.
