With the new NG MD-80 samples close to ready a wishlist is worthwhile and illustrating how many MD-80 options there are here are 88 possibilities just from the New World organised as follows:
NOTE: Many of these airlines operated both pointy and screwdriver tailcone MD-80s at various points so there are often two versions that could be made for a single scheme.

Another variation for the American scheme has the pointed tail cone with a bare metal tail as opposed to the composite/gray tail. I have a photo of N246AA in this scheme that I took at ORD on 4-27-1985.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. There have been some MD-81s made in 400 scale already for airlines like PSA, Hawaiian and JAS. The MD-81 is outwardly identical to an MD-82 or MD-83 anyway so it shouldbe easy to make more.

Even more more AA example... the first deliveries had a metal tail (NOT painted). They stayed that way for at least 4-5 years.
