A New Hangar @ The New House

Apologies for the lack of material over the past few weeks, as many of you know I've been moving back to the UK from New Zealand with my family after 16 good years in Aotearoa. The internet was connected yesterday at the new house and so I am officially back on line and ready for 2022. Of course a big part of this will be the arrival of the model collection and the creation of a new hangar space.

We moved into our new property just 5 days ago and currently it is rather empty as the majority of our belongings are enroute from New Zealand via container ship. This includes the entire hangar and model collection. We have been lucky to secure a really nice house, but it is very different to what we had in Auckland so the collection space will have to adapt to fit.

The NZ hangar was able to use the space of a three car garage and would always be near impossible to replicate, especially in the UK. Nonetheless, I've been fortunate to move to a house with two bedrooms that I can use for the purpose of displaying the fleet and continuing the work at the site here. While the space isn't quite as big as I had previously it is all inside and out of the weather.

There is also a double garage with the house but this time, what with UK weather and all, I think I'll need to use that for parking the cars and storing other things. Then again, I may be able to poach some space for model airports as my Xin Long diorama appears to be the most likely casualty of the smaller size rooms.

Currently the two new rooms that will make up the new Yesterday's Airlines hangar (I call them Terminal 1 and 2) are largely empty but I did get down to Ikea a few days ago to acquire a Deltof and 4 Kallax cube stores.

For the time being the model fleet is reduced to just four aircraft acquired in the UK. I have planned out how the new hangar will look but it'll be interesting to see if I've got my measurements correct and whether everything looks ok in the rooms.

The rest of the fleet probably won't be delivered until early March and then the huge unpacking and sorting job will begin. In the meantime however I will continue doing what I do on the usual channels. I hope to receive new NG mould samples and metal samples of the AV400 A380 and 787 soon so keep on checking out the site and other channels.
