There have been relatively slim pickings for European collectors of modern narrowbodies in 2025, with by my count only 6 from Gemini Jets, 4 from JC Wings and 7 from NG Models. Gemini and JC continue to have a stranglehold on regional types, although many of their moulds for RJs are outdated, with only 3D Design Deck offering competition. Whether you can consider the E2 series regional types or RJs any longer is debatable, since the E195-E2 seats as many as an A319, but regardless the debut of these moulds and the release of this Binter version in August has been music to the ears of many Europeans. Each review is to split into three key areas:

MOULD Gemini Jets debuted the new mould for the Embraer E195-E2 in December 2023, with a Porter Airlines release. Since then they have released 3 further models (KLM Cityhopper, Azul and this one) while JC Wings has announced one, which, unsurprisingly, has yet to be released. They also have the smaller E190-E2 available and Gemini has released two to date (Helvetic and Wideroe) with JC Wings announcing a pair, also for the future. Considering the relatively small pool of operators at present, that is a good return with probably only Mexicana, LOT and TUI fly Belgium being further plausible release candidates at present. The E2 moulds have been warmly received and rightly so. They look even better when you compare them to some of the lacklustre new moulds Gemini have put to market in recent years, such as the 737-600 and 767-400. Another plus for this E2 mould is that it doesn't share much commonality with the very average E-Jet classic mould series JC Wings and they also have. This is especially evident at the nose and cockpit, which are weakpoints of the older E-Jet moulds. The fuselage barrel of this new mould is much better, including a fine nose and cockpit. The wing to fuselage fairing is really impressively moulded and fits tightly to the slot-in wings. On the underside the NACA intakes are very well defined. The rear of the fuselage looks fine, with the long tailcone nicely shaped with a hole for the APU. The stabilisers are great as well with a well marked rudder. The very small fins on the side of the vertical stabiliser are printed not moulded in, but are very very small anyway. The all-new wings are superb, with sharp and fine edges. The wing control surfaces are also well marked out and display really nicely under the paint, something that is often rather hidden on moulds nowadays. The flap track fairings are worth calling out as on the E2 they are really large and not uniform in shape or size. I've got no complaints. The large squared off under the wing engine pylons and high curving upper nacelle attachment are near perfect. I can't argue with the engines either, which have a great shape and see through fans. The latter is impressively carried off, as although the engines are large for an ERJ, they are still not huge. The undercarriage on the older E-Jet moulds was another major weakness, but that is not the case on the E2s. The nosegear is in a much better position than on the earlier E-jet mould. It is a little chunky and the nosegear tyre slightly too large, but it is solid and looks good. This is probably the only real weakness of the mould. That is aside from Gemini's penny-pinching when it comes to aerials. As is common they exclude the underside aerial, but positively the unusual shape of the two forward dorsal aerials is accurately carried off. This mould illustrates that JC Wings have the ability to produce very high quality output when it comes to new moulds. It certainly isn't the only superb new mould to come from them in recent time (see the Antonov twins), however too often they underuse new moulds or they are of lower quality. I can't argue with the quality of this effort though. SCORE - 9 PAINT & LIVERY Binter Canarias has been flying for 37 years, but is probably not that well known to non-Europeans. It is pleasing to see Gemini venture towards a smaller airline like this so they can get best usage of the mould. Although Binter's livery is still quite euro-white it is still one of the more colourful among Spanish operators, and has some nice flair to it that suits the E2 well. Gemini's relationship with airlines usually assures accurate colours and in this case they are spot-on. The medium-green band accurately sweeps down from the tail to the belly and the model looks especially nice from the underside. The livery replication is excellent with all the details, such as aircraft name 'La Gomera' present and accurate. Is there a slight curve to the green line on the engine nacelles? Maybe, but not enough to detract points in my opinion. SCORE - 10 PRINTING & QUALITY CONTROL There's plenty of good print detailing on the model, and I especially like the linework around the fuselage / wing fairing, which is often ignored, on A320s for example. Placement is good, but as with the A220s I'm not convinced by the cockpit windows. They are certainly better than the A220s but are a little too small for me and could be slightly taller. The paintwork is good all over and it is only under magnification that a few small paint nicks (on the engine nacelles and near the horizontal stabs) become apparent. Quality control is good, with just a minor tyretab on the nosegear and a mis-shapen gear hub on the starboard outer maingear. SCORE - 8 SUMMARY In my opinion there is often a lot of middle-of-the-road models from Gemini, using very ordinary moulds. This is certainly not one of them, in fact you could argue this one's a model of the year contender. It is good to see some greater diversity from Gemini and new airlines in the scale, since this is the first Binter release. The E2 moulds are superb and put Gemini and JC in pole position for what will become an increasingly important part of the modern aviation landscape.
FINAL SCORE - 27/30
